Howorth
Samuel Howorth, of the firm of S. Howorth & Co. of McMinnville, was the son of Daniel Howorth of Niagara Falls. He graduated from the Detroit Business College and came to McMinnville in 1890 and purchased the drug stock of B. F. Fuller and was a druggist for nine years. During the naval and land warfare in Cuba, Howorth’s war bulletins, furnished free to the public, were the earliest source of war news for the community. Every important event was published within five minutes of its arrival on the coast.
