Walker, E. C.

E. C. Walker, of the grocery house of Wallace & Walker, was born in Shelby county, Illinois, in 1849. He was educated at Lincoln University. In 1880 he emigrated to Walla Walla, Washington and entered the employ of the Blalock Lumbering Co. and had charge of an extensive yard. Later he bought wheat for Portland firms, and one season contracted as high as 900,000 bushels. He also had charge of the wharves of the Portland Flouring Mills Co. He was identified with the Masonic, Eastern Star, Workmen and K. of P. orders.

These letters, train ticket stubs and receipts were found in a box tucked away in the Cozine House. With the help of volunteers, we have transcribed the letters of Mr. E. C. Walker, a local McMinnville man. These documents date from 1897- 1904.
