Wallace, Collin A.

Collin A. Wallace

Collin A. Wallace was born in Michigan in 1834, and was left an orphan at the age of 15 years. He started across the plains for Oregon in 1852, and had a very eventful trip which he recounted in an autobiography. When the Yakima war broke out he served as deputy sheriff of Olympia, while the sheriff went to fight Indians, and he ran great risks in collecting taxes. He was married to Eliza J. Shuck of McMinnville county in 1854 and began farming in Yamhill county in 1855, after which he moved to his pleasant home in McMinnville.
